In the Garden

We are truly fortunate to have a caring, professional, multidisciplinary staff who shares our mission of respecting human life and the inherent dignity of each person and provide person-centered care by holistic approaches of healing body, spirit, and mind. Some members of our staff are bi-lingual, enhancing the comfort level of residents and making them feel at home. We are recognized in the community for the longevity of our staff, which helps to ensure familiarity with our residents and their individual needs and improves continuity of care.

Below is a list of our departments:

  • Administrative
  • Medical Staff
  • Nursing
  • Rehabilitation
  • Social Services
  • Pastoral Care
  • Recreation

  • Building Management

Matulaitis is one of 18 skilled nursing homes in America listed on the 2011 Honor Roll. “they were the only homes, out of more than 15,500 in the latest U.S. News Best Nursing Home rankings, to receive four straight quarters of perfect five-star ratings from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in health inspections, nurse staffing, and quality care, the three areas in which CMS evaluates these facilities.” This speaks of dedication and competent care of our staff.

The Administrator, assisted by the management team, oversees and directs the everyday operations of the facility according to the approved policies and mission of the Nursing Home.

We have 32 physicians, some of different specialties, on our Medical Staff. Five of them form the Active Medical Staff Board. Our Medical Director is Jeffrey Howe, M.D.

The Director of Nursing Service with the guidance of the Medical Director is responsible for the execution of residents’ care. Our nursing staff is composed of well trained, licensed nurses, who with assistance from Certified Nurses’ Aides provide 24 hour nursing care.

Our short-term rehabilitation programs by Genesis Rehabilitation Services combine highly qualified licensed physical, speech, and occupational therapists. They use state-of-the art equipment and have individualized programs for each resident.

Our Dietary Department is directed by the Dietitian and Food Service Supervisor with help from well-trained staff. They prepare meals not only to meet residents’ nutritional needs, but also to please them. Each resident is interviewed for food likes, dislikes, and eating habits. Assistance with feeding or adaptive equipment is provided as needed. Special seasonal food events and holidays are celebrated with traditional foods along with appropriate settings and decorations.

The Director of Building Services and his staff are responsible for keeping our building spotless, safe, and in a good state of repair.
